Exemption 2014

Effect September 1, 2013 (Tax Code 11.43)
An application for a residence homestead exemption include a copy of the current applicant’s driver’s license or state-issued personal identification certificate and the address must match the property address unless
Drivers license or State-issued personal identification not required.
(A) The applicant is a resident of a facility that provides services related to health, infirmity, or aging.
(B) Is certified for participation in the Address Confidentiality program for victims of family violence, sexual assault, or stalking by the attorney general office.
Address matching on Drivers license or state issued personal Identification not required IF
  The matching address for an active duty member of the armed services of the United States or their spouse will be waved. If they include a copy of the applicant’s or spouse’s military identification card and a copy of a utility bill.
Transportation code. 521-121(c ) The matching address for a federal judge, state judge, or the spouse of a federal or state judge. The address on the license will be the address of the Courthouse.

Effect January 1 2014 NEW Residence Homestead of Surviving Spouse
Texas Tax Code Sec 11.132
The surviving spouse of a member of the armed services of the United Stated who is killed in action is entitled to received an exemption from  taxation of the total appraised value of the surviving spouse’s residence homestead if the surviving spouse has not remarried since the death of the member of the armed services.
